For some reason we can't seem to come through this area of Maine without some vehicular problem. We spent the night in a Cabella's parking lot and drove for about an hour the next day. The roads in the northeast part of the US and some in Newfoundland were very very rough with lots of ruts and potholes. We crossed into Massachusetts and were taking the interstate around the west side of Boston when we heard a clank behind us. A guy pulled up alongside our pickup and pointed to the back of the RV. We already figured something had happened and it was confirmed when we saw smoke out the back of the RV. Frank got it pulled over as 3 lanes of traffic whizzed by. Then we were able to see that the back axle was twisted. A call to the insurance company for a tow was made and a policeman came up behind and followed us till we could go 1/2 mile up the road to a median between an exit/entry. This was a safer place and he went on his way.
It took 3 hours to get a tow truck to come and hook up the 5th wheel and tow to a nearby RV dealer who had it fixed within an hour and a half. We were then on our way arriving around 9:00 pm at our destination. The ride the next day was much less stressful.
