Saint John, New Brunswick

We spent several days in Saint Johns, New Brunswick, so that we would not travel back to the States before Labor Day.  The campground was in a really nice park on the edge of the city with lots of walking trails, a beach on a small lake and a nice overlook to view the city.

We stopped at the Visitor Center downtown and talked with a man who gave us several areas to visit during our stay.  City tours on days were only given when the cruise ships were docked.  So the next day we went downtown and took the tour to learn more about the city and history of Saint John.  Meanwhile we visited a Martello Tower and learned there are very few still standing in the world.  Reversing Falls is another must see site while here.  You can click on this link Reversing Falls and see it online.  The city has a wonderful city market with lots of fresh groceries and novelties which is convenient for those living in the downtown area.  I did have to buy some King Cole tea which really is the best.

The visitor center volunteer also gave us information on a Country Music Hall of Fame musicians gathering.  His directions were excellent and the venue was relatively close.  It was a delightful evening of music.  While there we learned that Bingo was played in this building on Sunday evenings.  So Sunday evening we sat next to a nice lady who helped to make sure we were following along.  She won one game but no luck for us.

We are a little sad as our Canadian adventure has come to an end.  We thoroughly enjoyed the Maritime Provinces and all they had to offer.  The best was the people -- friendly and full of information about their country and ours.
