Sault Ste. Marie

Our campground was right on St. Mary’s River which is where the large lake ships come from Lake Huron/Lake Michigan to go through the Soo locks and on to Lake Superior or from Superior to the lower lakes.  There is a 21 foot difference between the Lakes thus the canals were built.  We enjoyed standing on the viewing platform and watching the ships come in the canals.  Depending on which way they are traveling they are raised/lowered in around 20 minutes and then they are on their way.

We drove over the International Bridge between Sault St. Marie, Michigan and Sault St. Mare, Ontario to ride the Algoma Railroad train.  That was a long trip to a park and a long trip back.  When we reached the Agawa Canyon Park we were able to stretch our legs and walk to a couple of falls.  We opted to climb the 300 steps to view the valley from a viewing platform and then walked to the different falls.
I’m sure this train ride would have been much prettier during the fall months.

On another note, I found some "calling cards" from a fellow resident in our RV.   And sure enough one morning we awoke to this.
