Munising, Michigan

Munising, Michigan on Lake Superior offered a nice boat cruise to view the Painted Rocks National Seashore. We took the sunset cruise and enjoyed the scenery and the sunset at 9:45 pm.
This area is full of waterfalls which are all totally scenic and different.  We visited 9 and felt that was enough. On a warm sunny day we decided to do a 7 mile hike.  At about a mile and a half there was a lighthouse station and we arrived in time for the tour of the home and were able to climb to the top for a view of the Lake.  However it was a very traumatic hike for me as you can see I was covered with black flies.  They weren’t able to bite through my jeans but did through my tee shirt.  So I fought them till we reached the lighthouse where the breeze blew them away until we started back down the trail to our pickup.  Again traumatized was the way I felt for the next 24 hours.

Stay tuned for Sault Ste. Marie and the Soo Locks which is where we are now.

I've read about fly season there - even the forest animals hate them. No wonder you felt traumatized. Your pictures of the scenery are great - thanks for posting!
