Campobello

On our final days in the Bar Harbor area we drove up to Campobello National Park which was the summer home of Franklin Roosevelt. This park is operated by both the United States and Canada together although it is on the Canadian side of the border. The home had no heat so it was only occupied during the summer. While FDR was President there was only one phone on the island so they positioned a navy ship nearby to communicate with Washington DC. This "cottage" has 35 rooms and had a staff of 6 people.

It turned out to be a lovely drive as the leaves were just beginning to turn. My wish this summer was to travel into Nova Scotia and on to Prince Edward Island in Canada. We did start out one day into Canada but after about 100 miles decided it wasn't worth the risk if something would go wrong with our vehicle.

We returned home a week ago without any problems with our pickup, RV or home. The RV window is fixed and all is in working order for our next trip.

I am not sure that blogging is my thing as you notice this summer I have not written much. So I am taking a month off to decide if I wish to continue keeping a blog. Check back around November 15th when I will make my decision and decide whether I will continue this blog. Thanks for taking the time to read!
