Richmond

Richmond, Virginia is our last stop before heading for home.  Our visit was well timed as we attended the Field Days of the Past that was started years ago when we lived here in Richmond.  As the name states it takes place in a field and there are old saw mills cutting wood and diesel engines as well as home made ice cream, old cars, food and knitting, etc. demonstrations.  We had to rest our feet for a couple of minutes.  

We played golf, visited a couple of quilt shops that we enjoy and was able to attend the Occoquan Craft festival which occurs each spring and fall.  This craft fair takes place in the quaint river town of Occoquan along their streets.  I don't normally buy much as I don't like a lot of clutter in my life but I did find a summer dress for $20 and we bought a lawn ornament that looks like mushrooms with ants reclining on top.  They will fit right in with our ant population in our yard.  When we lived here in Virginia the attendance was much greater.  I was also able to have lunch with a cousin, Bobbie, who is recovering from several leg surgeries.  It is good to keep in touch.  


Another event that was fun and special to witness was the solo flight that our son was ready to perform.  He has always had a love of flying so I am glad he is able to take flying lessons.

Well we are homeward bound so that will conclude our 2013 summer adventure.  It is always good to be home but sad to end our trip.  I enjoyed all aspects of this trip as the scenery was beautiful and the people wonderful and nice.  Love Canada!!
