Newfoundland Week Two

From Rocky Harbour we traveled to St. Anthony which is also a harbour town. Here we met some wonderful people who were camping in a tent next to us.  After several conversations we discovered that they are retired, not quite 60 and have traveled extensively.  The lady was a "Newfie" who was coming back for a family wedding.  They live in Ontario.

We also talked to some folks that were part of an airstream caravan with members from Iowa and Virginia.  Those people know how to travel and several were in their 80's.  Another resident in the campground strolled through one evening and I was able to snap a photo of him.

From several vantage points we were able to observe an iceberg and spent a couple of different days walking along the coast watching the whales playing in the water.  We did several hikes and had a wonderful cod dinner at the local Canadian Legion.  Reminds me of the dinners and parties at our local American Legion that we attended while growing up in my hometown.

The best part of traveling with an RV is the people you encounter along the way.  We just heard from a couple of folks that the ferry we arrived in hit the dock in Nova Scotia so that ferry is out of commission.  There is another ferry that travels to the eastern side of Newfoundland so they brought that boat over and everyone has to leave from the Western coast.  We are glad that we have reservations to travel back to Nova Scotia on the 19th of this month.

This is what I have been working on during rainy days which happen occasionally here.  Just needs the handles attached to the sides.  :)
