Rest Areas, Road Construction and Wal-Marts

This past week was a travel week for us.  We started out on our trek across country to Canada.  We made stops along the way in various rest areas to get out and walk and occasionally to eat lunch.

We had one very interesting stop where we encountered a young woman sitting on the pavement and on the grass near her was a small pig.  We walked past them back to our RV and she said to Frank, "please do not walk near her, Sir, as I have been here for 2 hours and I will have to capture her when she runs.  The pig is skittish around people."  We continued walking and asked if she was stranded and needed help.  She sat there with her head in her hands so we just kept walking and left.  A first encounter with a pig at a rest area.

It is summertime so we ran into several areas of road and bridge construction.  Glad we were not in any hurry and that they are repairing roads.  Unfortunately New York and Connecticut did not show any signs of repairing theirs and as the roads were very rough.

Most Wal-Marts allow RVs and trucks to park in their lots overnight so we took advantage and stayed at 3 before arriving in Bangor, Maine for a very welcome stay in a full hookup RV park.  Not sure if we save any money by doing this as we usually buy a few groceries during our stay. We have met some interesting people while doing this.

You were smart to keep walking; as you know, one meets all types of people at rest stops, however, not too many with a pig.
